18.06.21. UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is urging world leaders to step up their efforts to foster peace, stability and cooperation in order to halt and begin reversing nearly a decade-long trend of surging displacement driven by violence and persecution.

The Global Tends Report published by UNHCR shows that 82.4 million people have been forcibly displaced worldwide. 

86% of these are hosted in developing countries

73% are hosted in neighbouring countries

Between 2018 and 2020, 1 million children were born as refugees
