2020 has been a tough year for everyone.  Imagine being a refugee, stuck in a camp, unable to socially distance or wash your hands!

With lockdown in place across the whole of Europe, Hope and Aid Direct continued to work with ou partners in Lesvos, Chios and Samos to assessing needs and working out how best to help, with a view to getting the required aid to them as soon as was practically possible.

In early June we took the decision to load a 40ft 'super cube' container and ship it out to our partners for distribution.

The aid that was send was the aid that had been specifically requested, in particular hygiene and sanitary items, plus some baby items, clothes and blankets and even a hospital bed for a medical facility in Lesvos.

The container arrived in Athens on the 18th July before moving to Lesvos (to be met by representatives from the Atikka warehouse) before some of the aid made its onward journey to Chios and Samos.

Below is a selection of photos of the aid.

A huge thank you must go out to all of you who sponsored a pallet.

Another big thank you must also be given to Roddy, who pulled this load together logistically and loaded the container despite the weather being somewhat unkind to him on loading day!
