Ford Motor Company

The support that we get from our friends at Ford Motor Company is quite superb, and many tonnes of aid would not get to its destination without their magnificent support.

BskyB

Thanks to BskyB from Hope and Aid Direct for the most generous donation of First Aid Kits. There were 60 of them! A picture is attached shown laid out ready for transporting to Kosovo. Some will go to medical centres within minority enclaves, and some to centres for the internally displaced. Even after five years there are still many families living in appalling conditions in these “temorary” shelters and camps, some under protection by British and other UN forces.

Some kits will go the Women’s prison in Liplyan, where the female inmates from 16 to  42 yrs old will be given basic first aid training. The only women's prison in Kosovo is a dreary place with many of the inmates from very poor backgrounds, often having been unwillingly forced into prostitution or drug-running. We hope to be able to support them via training in sewing, hair-dressing, first aid and other skills in order improve feelings of self-worth and help them practically for the future. A few of the boxes will be retained for use on our convoy of over a dozen vehicles planned to depart from UK on 23 September 2005.

Nike

On behalf of Hope and Aid Direct and the surviving youngsters of Krushe e Vogel, we would like to thank everyone at Nike for their most generous help for this football project. That means that we now have a complete kit to equip the young people there.

Bernie (Sullivan) has  just returned from two weeks in the Balkans and found that in his absence, five boxes had arrived in addition to the previous packages. This makes a magnificent total of:

bullet

30 pairs of new football boots

bullet

30 pairs of new football socks

bullet

28 pairs of new football shorts

bullet

30 new football shirts

bullet

4 new footballs

With additional support from Saucony who have generously supplied trainers, the only item that we need to locate would be a pair of five-a-side goal posts and nets. With plenty of time left between now and our September convoy, I'm sure that a good Samaritan will appear to complete our efforts. When the time comes, I will send some pictures from the village

Wish List

See what's on our wish list, and remember, all the goods you donate are delivered directly into the hands of those who need it most.

How you can help

No one involved in Hope and Aid Direct takes a salary, or charges for their time and many of our team do not claim back any expenses that they incur. Our volunteers give up their spare time to raise the funds needed to hire, fill and take trucks on the convoys and use up some of their precious annual leave to travel to the Balkans to distribute the aid.

Online donations

What makes it all worthwhile? Just take a look in the picture galleries, at the faces of some of the people who have been helped over the years.

Do you think you have what it takes? If so, please click on "how you can help" to see what you can do.

Cards for Convoys

Hope and Aid Direct are pleased to announce its very own range of charity cards is now available for sale.

Inland Revenue Repayments

If you are entitled to a repayment from the Inland Revenue, you can now donate it to charity by entering your chosen charities reference number in box 19A.3. on your Tax Return. Our number is:  EAH18JG

Rotary Box Scheme

Our efforts are helped by the Rotary Clubs Emergency Box Scheme

When a disaster strikes, people need necessities like food, clothes, and a dry place to sleep. They need essential supplies, basic tools and some of the many things it takes to start the rebuilding of  their lives.

Rotary International offers this immediate aid requirement by providing their Emergency Boxes. These Emergency Boxes are available for both hot and cold climates with the contents lists specifically tailored by the Red Cross, each box providing vital aid for adults and children. Held in Rotary warehouses, boxes filled with essential provisions are stored ready for instant dispatch whenever required and provide immediate relief for the victims.
