A&S Print Services Ltd

A&S Print Services Ltd, in Hutton, Essex, has now generously agreed to provide our Truck Stickers. These stickers give us an identity, but more than that, they contribute to our safety whilst we are in-the-field by making us recognisable as deliverers of international humanitarian aid.  We are exceptionally grateful to them.

How you can help as an individual

As an individual there are two main ways of becoming involved with the Charity. Either as a member of the crew and joining the convoy, or simply as a fund raiser.

Both ways are detailed below.

Become a crew member

At Hope and Aid Direct we are always looking for volunteers to join us in the field. We have two convoys a year (one at Easter and one in October) lasting around two weeks each.

Each volunteer who wants to come with us is expected to raise their own funds to get there and back, and if you want to drive a truck, you will also need to borrow, hire or provide your own truck, and obtain the aid to fill it – It may sound daunting, but it’s not that difficult, and  we can help you! (Our Handbook tells you all about what to do, and how to do it).

For our guide on becoming a crew member please click here.

To register your interest in becoming a crew member please email us here. Pleased include in your email contact details and where in the country you live, so we can put someone in your area in touch with you.

Raise funds and/or aid

As an individual there are a number of ways in which you can help raise funds and/or aid.

Supermarket campaign

Most supermarkets will allow you to set up a collection point where people can donate food.

For more details please email us here.

Get your employer involved

Most people will find it easier to raise funds and aid if they work in cooperation with their employers. Most people are surprised by how much their employers will give them, especially if it leads to free publicity.

Click here to find out how your company can get involved.

Organise events

Aid has been raised in the past by raising events such as:

Pub quizzes
Collections
Special film screenings
School fetes
Sponsored runs/swims etc
Discos
Parties
BBQs

Scrounger/aid/fund raiser

At Hope and Aid Direct we always need people who are confident in approaching companies for aid and/or funds.

A lot of people find it easier to ask for donations of prizes for competitions and it often raises more funds. For instance, if a company donates a prize worth £50 and you sell 300 tickets at £1 each, you have considerably increased the value of the donation.

After speaking to one of our team members your next step is downloading our handbook to see how you can help one of the UK's foremost humanitarian aid charities help the people of the former Balkan states. You'll need a password to do this, which you'll get from the contact you speak to.

When you have read the handbook you will be able to decide if you want to join us on a convoy or be part of the home based team, fundraising or publicising our work in your town, amongst family, friends and colleagues and collecting aid. We can provide you with publicity material.

Wish List

See what's on our wish list, and remember, all the goods you donate are delivered directly into the hands of those who need it most.

How you can help

No one involved in Hope and Aid Direct takes a salary, or charges for their time and many of our team do not claim back any expenses that they incur. Our volunteers give up their spare time to raise the funds needed to hire, fill and take trucks on the convoys and use up some of their precious annual leave to travel to the Balkans to distribute the aid.

Online donations

What makes it all worthwhile? Just take a look in the picture galleries, at the faces of some of the people who have been helped over the years.

Inland Revenue Repayments

If you are entitled to a repayment from the Inland Revenue, you can now donate it to charity by entering your chosen charities reference number in box 19A.3. on your Tax Return. Our number is:  EAH18JG

Rotary Box Scheme

Our efforts are helped by the Rotary Clubs Emergency Box Scheme

When a disaster strikes, people need necessities like food, clothes, and a dry place to sleep. They need essential supplies, basic tools and some of the many things it takes to start the rebuilding of  their lives.

Rotary International offers this immediate aid requirement by providing their Emergency Boxes. These Emergency Boxes are available for both hot and cold climates with the contents lists specifically tailored by the Red Cross, each box providing vital aid for adults and children. Held in Rotary warehouses, boxes filled with essential provisions are stored ready for instant dispatch whenever required and provide immediate relief for the victims.
